"What if your love life depended on your ability to combine your need for safety and commitment with your need to explore your lust and urges? It’s a salient question from any way a person views relationship, but in this context, we will consider it from a tradition currently under the microscope (some might even say attack): monogamy." - T.M. Bernard
Jane and I are happy monogamists. We married years ago, are raising kids together, work as a team, and look to each other for companionship... and sex. Sometimes mediocre get-the-job-done sex, sometimes crazy, sheet shredding, where-the-fuck-did-that-come-from sex (the kind we write about ;o). We're not extraordinary, we're archetypical suburbanites facing the same struggles as other parents and lovers. Ups, downs, surprises, and monotony.
Keeping a spark lit in the bedroom year after year takes a little work and a little imagination, the rewards of which are boundless and escape the bedroom to saturate our relationship (and family!) with intimate connections and deep feelings of love. As a result we remain happy with each other and our kids are bathed in the warmth and stability of a loving home.
Recently Tinamarie Bernard, Modern Love Muse found Dick-n-Jane.com and identified with our choice of monogamy and our efforts to push boundaries as a technique to maintaining a long term intimate connection. What followed was an email exchange interview and the subsequent publishing of The Sacredness of Dirty Lovemaking on the newly christened site Fearless Press, an extension of Kink Academy.
I encourage you to visit Tinamarie's columns on Fearless Press, Examiner, and The Green Prophet. She's got a solid, and growing, body of work which touches issues close to many of us in ways that spawn contemplative reflection.
Coming soon to Dick-n-Jane.com... a return to the sexy ideas and confessions we're known for. ;o)
